Novo Nordisk®
Norditropin® (somatropin) injection 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 30 mg pens
Get in the groove.
Phew! You’re getting started with Norditropin® and learning how to do the injection. Now it’s time to make this a part of your everyday life so you remember to do it consistently. Here are some tips on how to create your Norditropin® routine.
Make it regular as clockwork.
Doing the Norditropin® injection at the same time and in the same room every day may help it feel more like a regular part of your life—and may help you remember to do it, too.
Some families find it helpful to regularly do the injection:
• between brushing teeth and bedtime
• just after dinner
• right before breakfast
Selected Important Safety Information
Do not use Norditropin® if: you have a critical illness caused by certain types of heart or stomach surgery, trauma or breathing (respiratory) problems; you are a child with Prader-Willi syndrome who is severely obese or has breathing problems including sleep apnea; you have cancer or other tumors; you are allergic to somatropin or any of the ingredients in Norditropin®; your healthcare provider tells you that you have certain types of eye problems caused by diabetes (diabetic retinopathy); you are a child with closed bone growth plates (epiphyses).
Please see additional Important Safety Information below.
Store everything together.
Many families like to keep everything needed for the injection together in one place. (Things may go more smoothly if you’re not running around looking for the alcohol wipes!) Setting up a kit may also make it easier to do the injection in a place that’s comfortable for your child.

Try one of these options to assemble your kit:
• a box your child has decorated with markers and stickers
• a treasure chest or basket
• a bathroom storage caddy
• a vintage suitcase
Remember: You may be able to store the FlexPro® pen right along with everything else if using it within 3 weeks.a
aAll unused Norditropin® products must be refrigerated (36°F to 46°F) prior to first use. Do not freeze and avoid direct light. After first injection, Norditropin® pens can either be stored outside of the refrigerator (up to 77°F) for use within 3 weeks, or in the refrigerator (between 36°F and 46°F) for use within 4 weeks.
Accentuate the positive.
Getting a daily injection can be tough on kids, but positive reinforcement may help.
Try some of these options, such as the Good Patient Award, or find something that works for your family.
Positive reinforcement could include:
• Points your child can use toward special outings or treats
• Stickers, temporary tattoos, new crayons, or other rewards
• Privileges like TV, game time, or choosing a family outing
Everyone loves awards!
Download our Good Patient Award to print for your child.
Journal the journey.
What did you have for dinner last Tuesday? Sometimes details are difficult to remember, but they can be important when you’re trying to fit something new into your routine.
Keeping a journal of injections may help you see what’s working, notice trends (“the injection goes more smoothly after soccer practice”), and identify successes (“earning points toward a sleepover was a great idea”).
Track your child’s progress.
The best positive reinforcement a child may receive is evidence of their progress. Use our Growth Track Wizard™ to record your child’s height and see his or her growth over time.
